Loaves of soap ready for cutting

We use the traditional cold process method to make all our soaps.
Apart from melting the oils, no other heat source is used.  It is the chemical reaction between the oils and the alkali (Sodium Hydroxide) which creates the soap.  This process is called saponification.  The bar is left packed full of Glycerine, which is why the end result is so different to mass produced soap.
A commercial bar will have the Glycerine removed, a valuable by-product which is either sold off or used in hand and body products.  This leaves a detergent based bar which can cause dry and itchy skin.
We only use Organic vegetable oils to make our soaps and use no animal fats, except for goats milk.
Once a bar is made it is left to dry for 4 weeks before packing in a 100% recycled card. Our local printer uses vegetable based inks and the factory is powered by an eco friendly energy supplier, for which they have won awards.  We also try to reuse or recycle any packaging that we receive our ingredients in.
The complete process including measuring, mixing, cutting and wrapping is done by hand
